It’s been a bit quiet around here.

It’s been a bit quiet around here.

So what’s the reason?

Firstly, I’m getting more personal engagement from twitter at the moment.

Secondly, I think I’ve gotten everything I needed to, off my chest for the time being.

No doubt something will come along that requires a longer rant, and I will post it here.

What have I been up to?

Same old, same old. A lot of mountain biking but not a lot of flying.

Over the last two years I’ve cut a lot of friendships out, and I wonder what these people are up to from time to time. But being naturally happy and extrovert (although I doubt myself all the time) I’ve had no problem replacing these friends.

I’ve missed a couple of holidays this year – biking in the french alps and paragliding in the himalayas – due to puncturing my lung in the summer, but I’m off to Colombia for some paragliding next February, with some old friends – the guides and organisers (and maybe some new – the other pilots).

The last two years have affected my psyche in a way that is well summarised in a tweet I read recently: “sometimes you have to stop seeing the good in people and start seeing what they show you”.

But I’m used to taking myself off to Annecy, during the Isle of Man TT practise and race weeks, to free fly, and being alone is not the same as being lonely.

And to finish with some banality ..

I’m pleased that I’ve avoided buying any more expensive toys – I have been stalking a Garmin Tactix 7, but concluded that despite the hype, for flying/biking purposes, it is not much more sophisticated than the Vivoactive 3 I bought a few years ago, and nowhere near as useful as the Inreach Explorer which I use for mountain rescue purposes.

I’m always itching to consume more audio gear, in particular, a pair of T+A Solitaire Ts, but I think I’ve dealt with that addiction for the time being; we will see.

Right, I’m off. See you next time.
