Check this out!
Countries with higher levels of obesity have been hit harder by SARS-CoV-2.
What a wonderful resource https://ourworldindata.org is to a nerd like me!
I was wondering yesterday why India did so much better than the UK (3.01 versus 18.37 daily deaths per million people) at the peaks of their respective pandemics.
And I’ve just discovered this graph here.
CHECK OUT THE PLAY βΆοΈ BUTTON at the bottom of the graph below …. it shows the countries getting fatter!! Awesome π!
Now compare it to the graph below showing deaths per million people by country over the course of the pandemic.
There is a significant correlation between high levels of obesity and high levels of mortality on a country by country basis.
There are three outliers; Australia, Norway and Egypt. Maybe their pandemics have yet to take off. Hopefully I am wrong.
But Australia has been bashed up and locked down pretty heavily …… Unfortunately, I’m not sure that they’re going to escape SARS-CoV-2.
Play around with the graphs yourself… check out your own country if it’s not included..
Have fun!
