These pictures were extracted from my CT scan two months to the day after my last accident.

The haemothorax was caused by this bike hitting me in the back.

They show the blood clot still in the lower part of my right pleural cavity and this is where I can feel the tightness when I breathe in as far as I can.

But this is no longer causing me any problems whilst I’m out riding/walking and my legs are the weak link now that I’m getting back to fitness.

Also, I’m sure it’s getting better still, although progress is very slow now.

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to the same images taken shortly after the accident whilst I was an inpatient and to me, scanning through the slides, it still looks pretty messy in there.

But, I have a follow up telephone consultation with the lovely Mr Wooley at the end of October and it will be interesting to see what he thinks.

My wife asked me a couple of weeks ago whether I would have an operation to remove the clot if offered.

I said yes on the basis that I’ll need that lung capacity when I’m paragliding in the Himalayas in my mid 80’s.*

Now I’m not so sure.

[* I’m not joking in this regard; I’ve had 4 paragliding trips to the Himalayas (it would have been 6 except for this and another mountain biking accident I had back in 2018) and I plan to have many more.]
